We can be found down at Baiter Park most weekends and summer evenings weather
permitting. Although Poole and surrounding areas have lovely beaches we suffer
from a strange tidal system which gives us two high tides a day. This means the
tide never goes out far enough to reveal the hard packed sand that is required
for us to buggy or board on the beach.
Other local flying sites include, static flying during the off season months on
Studland beach, Hengistbury Head, again static flying and with a size limit on
your kite of 3mtrs.
Buggy and Board flying activity are permitted at Baiter Park within the area outlined by the
black line in the picture below. A line drawn from the toilet building to the corner of the
slipway carpark, along level with the shoreline footpath but at least 10 feet away from
the footpath toward the grass bank by the Cycle Speedway track. Then back along the tree
lined edge of the car park to the toilet block. Please watchout for members of
the public crossing from the slipway to the toilets.
The best winds for Baiter Park are from the West through to a South Easterly
which means the wind is mainly coming of the water. Northerly and North Easterly
winds tend to be a bit gusty so caution should be taken. Parking is available on
Catilina Drive, in the main carpark or in the slipway car park. You will need to
buy a parking ticket all year round otherwise you WILL get a parking
ticket. In the summer parking becomes very differcult especially at
weekends.
